…After more then five months, I have decided to continue with writing texts about my Creativity, Innovation & Self-Knowledge School, and the Pillars of Wisdom, as I called them in my introductory text Stairway To Wisdom: Six Pillars To The Ultimate Spiritual Enlightenment…
In the first chapter, when I was writing about the first Pillar of Wisdom – The Knowledge, I was trying to explain that gathering valuable informations, i.e. facts, are the first level in exploring our world of mysteries, the first step to creating masterpieces of science, art or spirituality. Also, I have written that the best way to create something new and interesting, something unique and possibly important for the future of our human kind, is in combining different parts of information from all the worlds of science investigation, art mastery and spiritual quests, in a form of texts, videos and music, which are by my own opinion the best ways to trigger vivid imagination and creative ideas flow.
In the first part, main idea was that every student of this course should take one of the proposed and offered subjects, or better said combination of subjects that incorporate the magic of the words, pictures and sounds; study all of those subjects thoroughly and after that, write down or sketch the basic ideas and facts about every and each of those subjects.
One of the best ways to write or sketch all of the information that you thought are important and interesting and organize them in some sort, is in creating Mental Maps, which are one of the most used tools in modern education systems, especially in the non-formal course type.
After writing down or sketching images or graphs of all of the collected facts about the subjects in interest, we begin with combining them in some meaningful order, that we could use them later when creating our own creative works. In this part of the whole creative work we have to start using our vivid imagination and unconventional ideas.
To make things clearer, I will use subjects from the second example from the first chapter, when I was writing about the Pillars of Knowledge:
Dali Surrealistic Artwork (read texts, watch images)
Algae as Alternative Energy Resources (watch videos)
Beethoven’s 9th Symphony (listen music)
As you can see from this example above, I have chosen three subjects coming from two different areas of expertise, Science (Algae as Alternative Energy Resources) and Art (Dali Surrealistic Artwork; Beethoven’s 9th Symphony). The later, musical part can be considered also as a part of spirituality, due to the fact that spirituality (and religion in general) often use music in their practices.
If the students have chosen these specific areas of expertise, and read the texts about Salvador Dali and his surrealistic and above all unusual artwork, as well as observing some of his masterpieces, they could write down (or sketch if they like) some of the general ideas and facts that came to their mind concerning this artistic subject.
Watching videos (or reading texts if they like), about the scientific methods of using algae plants as an alternative energy resources in producing new type of biofuel (which is one of the modern technology approaches investigated in the last decade or so), should give them a different type of ideas and facts about this scientific problem and experiments that are made in this branch of practical natural and technical science.
All that should be accompanied with listening some music, in this specific example, parts of the famous 9th Symphony of the German composer Ludwig van Beethoven (the last Beethoven´s symphony mostly known by the title “Ode to Joy” (which was taken from the Friedrich Schiller´s text)), and which is considered today as an unofficial anthem of the European Union.
So, as I have explained before, every subject that I had mentioned should be well examined, and all the facts that seems interesting should be marked and taken from the texts, videos or music, like the most common phrases, parts of the texts, music melodies and rhythms, impressive images etc.
Like for example:
- surrealistic image of the world
- time has no boundaries, it flows from here to eternity (idea that could come to our mind after examining Dali´s most famous painting masterpiece “Persistence of Memory, 1931.“)
- living in the world of shadows and masks, pain and torture (“Tristan and Isolde, 1944.”; “The Face of War, 1942.”)
- shapes seem like they don´t exist at all, everything is like a plastic, always in constant change (“Spider of the Evening, 1940.”, “Temptation of Saint Anthony, 1946.”)
- horror and complexity are the another words for existence of human kind (“The Anthropomorphic Cabinet, 1936.”)
- creating new fuel for the future (algae as a new biofuel energy resource)
- combining nature and products of the human mind (industrial facilities for cultivating algae and extracting their oils)
- problems with price and quantity of the new algae biofuel
- advantages and disadvantages of the modern biofuel system
- high and fast rhythm of the melodies of the “Ode to Joy” symphony
- Beethoven´s fast music reminds of the work of the machines in the factory of the future
All of these facts and informations, and much more that the students can perceive from the subjects in this example (Dali, Algae, Beethoven) must be written (or sketched, if they like) and organised in some sort of mutualy connected groups (how the student is going to connect those facts is up on his/her choice).
The only thing that is important is that the whole picture (with all those written/drawn facts and figures) gives some sort of ideas in creating one new work, no matter is it the work of science, art or spirituality or any of their combination. Using valuable and interesting informations from different sources and combining/organizing them in some sort of new valuable works is the main and key idea of this pilot project.
Use the old to create something new, explore your vivid imagination, use your knowledge, intelligence and creativity to make a new masterpiece!
