…Have you ever heard about the famous 19th century French novelist, poet, and playwright Jules Gabriel Verne?
Or about his most famous Sci Fi novels “Around the World in Eighty Days“, “Journey to the Center of the Earth” or “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea“?
If you did, maybe you have also heard about and watched the famous Spanish cartoon TV series “Around the World with Willy Fog”, where the main character, the lion Willy Fog (in original J. Verne´s novel Phileas Fogg) is trying to win a bet against his fellow members of the London´s well respected Reform Club, to travel around the world in eighty or less days, using all the possible, then modern means of transportation (trains, ships, balloons, carriages etc.).
He is accompanied with his servant, a French butler Rigodon (a cat) and his little friend from the circus, Tico (a hamster) that always makes something crazy and funny; as well as Fog´s future wife, Indian princess Romy (a panther).
In order not to succeed in their plan, they are always followed by three canine characters: Inspector Dix and his assistent Constable Bully (both dogs) and evil spy Transfer (a wolf).
As well as very interesting and adventuristic, the storyline in the episodes (26 of them) is very funny, especially regarding the misadventures of Inspector Dix and Constable Bully.
You can read more about it here:
And watch most of the English translated episodes (even do they are also available in original Spanish, as well as in Czech, Japanese and German translations):
Around the World with Willy Fog (English Translations, missing episodes 16-18, 20-26; you can watch these episodes with other language translations (like I did with German versions))
…After this TV serie was released in 1983./84., it was followed by the next TV serie, “Willy Fog 2“, consisting of another 26 episodes divided into two parts, first one is talking about the story from the J. Verne´s novel “Journey to the Center of the Earth”, and the other part from the novel “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea”.

…Also, in the same time as I was watching this most unusual adventuristic comedy TV series, I was trying to find some movie with the same topic, and from many movie versions of the story “Around the World in Eighty Days” (latest published in 2004.), I decided to watch an English version miniseries from 1989. with Pierce Brosnan (famous “James Bond” actor) and Eric Idle (famous Monty Python group member) in the lead roles. Story from this miniseries is a little bit different, but I think you will enjoy to watch it also on this YT link:
